Default EZGO not running *quite* right?

This should maybe be moved to the "General BS" threads, but I figured I'd stick it here to give a heads up to some of the "Newbies" as to the importance of checking the basic stuff before getting too worried about tearing into things too deeply... Customer brings a cart in this AM, says it isn't running *quite* right, kinda sluggish, etc. I took it for a spin and yeah, it started great and seemed ok but was definitely lacking a bit, I told him to leave it and I would take a peek later in the AM when I got time ... Figured I'd check the plugs, hmmmmm - this cart was actually RUNNING, i swear, hahahaha

Which led me to the air cleaner, oh, oops - WHAT air cleaner?

Needless to say, the carb is torn apart and soaking as we speak because I really don't WANT to know what might be lurking in there, LOL - new plugs, air filter and air filter box cleaning, going to check the valves and do a fast oil change as long as I'm into it - definitely goes to show that if You want your cart to keep running right, a little maintenence goes a LONG way

Aaaaand hmmmm, maybe a new fuel filter to replace the one installed in 1995?

And to top it all off, after TWO cleanings and still having issues running smooth, as much as I really don't like the aftermarket carbs, in THIS case it's $28 well spent, hahahahaha

(I'm not EVEN going to show what the oil and filter looked like, I swear it "plopped" coming out of the crankcase *shiver*) .... So there You have it, Kids - these dang things will REALLY run through just about anything, but that's no excuse for not taking the time to address the obvious before it becomes a problem. Full Filter Package and Oil Change w/Valve adjustment $79, New Carb Installed $89 - $170 and a trip to the shop that could have been $30 and a little extra time in the garage *before* it became a problem

UNREAL! some people think just add gas and go No clue what they are getting into. I would bet the car they drive needs a little TLC too.

What blows Me away is that it started just fine, the only real symptom was less-than-stellar acceleration, sort of a lack of "pep" - just goes to show that these things really *aren't* as finicky as people think as long as everything is working correctly, yeesh ...

No, THAT is the screen and rubber part of the assembly formally known as an "Air Cleaner", hahahahaha - pretty sure the element is now a permanent part of the worlds carbon footprint, having been cycled piece by piece through that poor 295
