Default New Kawasaki motor

I am restoring a 2008 mpt 1200.workhorse.I need to either rebuild the motor or replace it.

The motor in the cart is running but it does need to be rebuilt due to excessive smoking a few rattles inside

I found where I can get it rebuilt for $650.00 with my core. I would need to ship the core at my expense.

I also found a seller on ebay that lists a brand new 13 hp Kawasaki motor for $815.00 with free shipping.

The seller is AXIS GOLF CART SUPPLY.

I was wondering if any members had purchased anything from this seller.

There is not much of a difference between the two prices and I almost want to go with the new motor,
but do not want to get burned by a poor ebay seller.

Any help would be appreciated.

Since it's pretty much the same price I would buy one of these in a heartbeat over a rebuilt engine, it's brand new including a new carburetor.

Thanks all,

I agree Big Mule,I was just wondering if anyone had used this seller.

I saw where the seller had a good ebay rating, and according to the website they had already sold 48 of these units,so I am assuming these are "new" motors as they are described.

Well ,as my dad used to say,Columbus took a chance.

I will let you know how I make out.

2008 probably has the Robbins twin cylinder. The newer Kawasakis are singles and the clutch is on the other side so you would have to replace the entire drive train..

I pulled the old motor out.It is the single cylinder. It also has the clutches on the right side {passenger} side.

Then you should be good to go. I believe 08 was the year they started switching over to the kawasaki so if they look like apples and apples it should work.

Well I took the plunge.

Ordered the motor on 1/25/17 and I was told that it would be shipped and I should receive it on 1/31/17.

I was very surprised when it arrived on 1/27/17.

I unpacked it yesterday and found that it was indeed a brand new Kawasaki 13 horsepower motor. The motor is the exact same motor I pulled out right down to the same decals.

Very happy with the seller, and I am very happy with the motor.

The only downside was the motor was shipped without a dipstick. There were plugs in the exhaust, air intake and the dip stick.I thought that was strange. No big deal as I can use the dipstick from the old motor.

I installed the motor today, and everything bolted in correctly, with no issues.

Just thought I would give you a update.
