Clutch or Fuel issue?
My buddy has a 93 EZ Go. It won't go. In neutral, it runs and the clutch does engage. But it seems to not rev up high enough to go. It was running ok as of yesterday. It has always been a bit sluggish. The drive belt seems really loose to me. But I am not sure if it is a belt problem or a fuel problem. Changed the plugs, but have not tested compression. (Don't have a way to test it). He ordered a new belt but matched the belt that was on it. What is the proper belt number for that cart? Any suggestions on what to try next if not a belt issue?

Re: Clutch or Fuel issue?
It could possibly be compression, but you said it ran fine the day before so it's unlikely. It could be a fuel issue too, if you want to check that it is flowing right disconnect the line going to the carb on the pump and push the pedal to see if gas is spraying out. Also, if the belt is very worn or two skinny, it can definitely prevent the clutch from being able to work properly if it can't grab the belt

Re: Clutch or Fuel issue?
Thanks, I ran the cart in neutral and the clutch fully engages, the belt rides to the top. But I drove it with the seat off and the clutch never fully engages. The belt won't go higher than about half way up. Still not sure if it is the clutch or starving for fuel under drive pressure. Any ideas?

Adjust the governor. Cured my problems that were similar

Re: Clutch or Fuel issue?
So after testing the compression, both cylinders were almost 150. Interestingly, while doing the test we figured out that although the compression was good, for some reason one cylinder is not firing. Fairly certain the ignition coil is not firing to the one cylinder.

Re: Clutch or Fuel issue?
Thanks, Did that test and the one side is definitely not firing. Switched plugs to make sure and it is clearly not firing. Guess it is probably that ignition coil. Is there a way to test that and isolate it as the problem?

Re: Clutch or Fuel issue?
Thanks, he ordered the part and hopefully that will solve the problem. Based on everything so far, I am pretty sure that is the problem. Appreciate all the feedback. Will update after install.

Re: Clutch or Fuel issue?
If the belt is not at the top of the driven clutch when you start off, There is another problem
