Default Carburator Issues

Hello
I am helping a friend with his EZ-GO TXT. He recently had the carburetor rebuilt. the cart will now spit and sputter whenever he takes off. to combat this he opens the airbox and it tends to run better. However, when he lets off the gas it backfires.

My assumption is that the carb is set way to rich and when you remove the air filter it leans the engine out. also, i assume the richness is causing the backfire because of the extra fuel in the system.

Am i on the right path?

Default Re: Carburator Issues

Sure sounds like it is running fat. Back fire may or may not be related to that.
