Jake's lift front end question from Newbie, Steering
The steering extension that is meant to go on the passenger side.... Sorry to be so dense, but I can't grasp from the instructions where it goes, unless it is a really tough fit. '92 Marathon 2-stroke. A visual would be great.

It bolts to the righthand steering arm and the tie rod coming from the pitman arm bolts to the top of it.
Check the top of the arm where the tierod bolts for a taper, you might have to loosen the tierod jam nut and rotate it to bolt in from the top. |

Re: Jake's lift front end question from Newbie, Steering
So, I need to spin the tierod 180 degrees and attach it upside down from it's current position? Thats what the instructions seem to show.
I wish the instructions had been photographic. I could be dense tho. |

Re: Jake's lift front end question from Newbie, Steering
Thnx Quadmaster. I am having a hard time getting the end of the tie rod to pop out (pic 1) Shouldn't it come right out? Any suggestions.
Second, from the directions, I think the tie-rod needs to mount on top of the spacer, sitting like this, with the rubber pads and grease zerk on top instead of the bottom.(pic 2). Right? Wrong? Any advice? Thanks |

Re: Jake's lift front end question from Newbie, Steering
While I'm at it, this bolt attached to the end of the tie-rod has a ton of taper that the steering riser hole wont accomodate (pic 1) (assuming I have it on right) Of course, nothing is snugged down yet. Also, there is going to be a LOT of toe-out! Should I expect this and adjust for it, or is something wrong? (Pic 2)
Thanks again |

Re: Jake's lift front end question from Newbie, Steering
Everything looks good so far, the toe will have to be adjusted out and the rubber on the tierod looks flattened out.
You could go to the auto parts store and replace the rubber boots to help keep dirt out or maybe a couple of washers added. Is there a bolt or something missing where the spindle pivots? |

Re: Jake's lift front end question from Newbie, Steering
Ok Looking good so far. The tie rod from the drag link looks like it might need to go in from the bottom of that new bracket. I'm thinking the taper is that way and that's why you can't get it to tighten and why it moves around in the hole. ( Pic #1 ) in 2nd post
