'98 txt carb tuning
Had the 295 engine in my '98 txt rebuilt by buggies unlimited (or whoever they contract to do it) in '13. Seems like I've been chasing problems since then. Intermittent backfiring, sluggishness, runs rough at mid throttle. Valves are set to .004" cold, passenger side spark plug seems a tick rich while driver side is a bit lean. Do I dare set the driver side intake valve to .003" to allow more fuel and then adjust the carb? (If so, how to adjust the carb?). Or loosen up the passenger intake valve to lean it out there and again adjust the carb?
Granted it's better than before rebuild as it actually has compression now and doesn't fog the neighborhood when we ride but it's got potential to be better with the right tuning and I'd like to get it there. TIA, Ted |
