looking at an ezgo

good evening ezgo-ers, im looking at a golf cart for my neighbors.

I stopped by a small engine repair shop today and seen this beauty, he told me he was repairing the coil, and the owner was gonna sell it.

He told me they had rebuild the engine last year in it, and it still has 165 psi of compression. Is that possible to have that much compression?

I own a club car and i've been reading that cc engines only have a 100 psi from the factory.

The only thing I didn't like about it, it seems like they stuck speakers everywhere, looks sloppy for my taste.

I read around here 150 is good, doubt they come from the factory with 100.

Looks good (all accept that thing hanging on the back)... how much?

2250 which is fairly good price around here, since everyone thinks their cart is worth 3500

Looking at the EZGO Technician Service Repair Manual, a typical 295 or 350 Robin engine will read 140psi across both cylinders. If the engine is new or rebuilt, the compression will be closer to the 160psi range. When compression nears the 125psi mark, it's a sign that the engine may need to be rebuilt (page G-11 from this manual).

Since you stated that the engine was rebuilt last year, your 160psi is within spec. Sounds like that cart has a great heart!

Decent price, in my neck of the woods, for sure.

Gassers bring at least 25-30% more than sparkys here.

Yeah, those speakers are hideous. But if they just wanted to get by for a bit, spray the grills/covers black to help them blend in a little.

A few patches welded in the floor and a new mat wouldn't be too serious of a repair.

The rear seat could be sold to recoup a few bucks if they don't plan on using it.

Is the floor pan aluminum? The two speakers on the seat frame are nice, ill probably add that to mine, but can't for the life of me figure out why just drop them and install where they land?

The repair sounds like a good winter project. How much would a new floor mat run?

That's expensive in my part, for a stripped vehicle. No windshield, no enclosure, no turn signals and it looks beat.
