Where to go with a '97 EZGO gas 1st
I just picked up a '97 ezgo gas cart. I have all these ideas and don't know where to start! LOL
Since I just got the cart, money is tight for any major investments right now. Next year my son and I plan to have more money to play with but the disney trip this year puts a damper on spending money. I prob have about 400 right now to play with if this helps in what direction to go 1st. Here's what I have plans for, windshied, lift kit, paint, extended 80" (?) roof, chrome bling :>), lighting ground effects, dash, and anything else that might make it look cool for my son and daughters. And of course a little speed. The cart is in fairly good condition some gouges in the front where someone had a windshield that rubbed the body (but it no longer has a windshield). Newer rear flip seat and it has a roof. Last owner put a new clutch in it with in the past year. It also has a new set of head and tail lights. I want to paint the cart but have been looking at the body wraps as an alternative as it appears that will be cheaper. Any advice? Is it really cheaper to wrap vs paint? I would like to eventually lift the cart a few inches, right now I only have about 4" clearance to get in the garage. The cart needs new tires as the ones on it are at the end of their cycle I think. Can I lift the cart with just a larger size tire and if so what's the largest tire I can put on the cart now with now lift kit? Oh and no a new garage is not in the budget! But I guess I could "chop" the roof supports a little! LOL I do know that I want to tune it up, new plugs oil and filters so that is the 1st thing I WILL do. Any and all advice welcome. Thanks Roger |

i would paint first, you can do rattle can for less than $50. Save up for a cool set of wheels/tires. Spend the money for the windshield like ruredy said. That is the way I would go with it. Have fun!

Re: Where to go with a '97 EZGO gas 1st
1st, thank you all for your replies so far.
I figured for under $100 I could get the cart tuned up and cleaned up. That money is already taken care of. The motor is pretty clean but I thought I would use some engine cleaner and scrub it down and clean up the seats some as the front seat is kinda grimey along the top. Do some greasing and so on. Here are some pictures of the cart now (not sure if this will work or not as I am not sure how to add pics in my posts). I guess as far as tires go, can I put larger size tires on the cart now or does it have to be lifted 1st. I thought instead of buying tires to fit the rims I have now I could get the tires and rims larger and start there. I would even be open to white rims with hubcaps if I could find some cool ones!! This cart is sim to what I am looking for, not so much the black on black but as far as looks go and of course some more chrome, since chrome will make it go faster right!! LOL Thanks Roger |

Re: Where to go with a '97 EZGO gas 1st
The club car in the pic has 22" tires on it but believe it or not those are 10" steel wheel with hub caps. 20" tire is the biggest you can use without a lift, not really much bigger than what you have. even at that the 20" May scrape here and there when turning or articulating

Re: Where to go with a '97 EZGO gas 1st
This is a set of ss hubcaps I got from tom at cpp is a sponser of this forum. HAHA my cart is a rattle can paint job, the body was to good to throw away but too rough to make nice. I paid 1000 dollars for the cart and now have 1300- 1350 in it with lights paint Hitch, king pins, new belt and all fresh lubes. Rocker panels or chrome tape next. |
