Default Time to get a new Engine :/

Well, my engine in my EZGO Marathon 1993 finally needs to be replaced. Well, the fact that it ran for almost a year with some minor issues after sitting in the woods for 10 years. I can't say I'm mad nor surprised. But, the main reason I'm making this thread is I want to get a new engine but with a little bit more power and reverse. I was wondering if any one of you guys have any good recommendations?

Thanks, Scarite

Your engine had reverse before didn't it? I had my 295 robins rebuilt a year ago and I've been very pleased with it. google J and M golf carts, they rebuilt mine for $600. I didn't want an aftermarket engine like a predator because I wan't the convenience of pushing the pedal to start. But I believe you can find predator motors for $400ish??

I love my Kawasaki FJ400D. As said before, a Predator motor would work nicely too.

Your talking about the Predator engines at Harbor Freight right? I've seen some of them. I was thinking of getting the Predator 670cc because it has hella power. I also wanted it for the Electric start. But it doesn't include reverse. Is there a good way to somehow get reserve? Because I need reverse for where I live.

You should have reverse, the reverse is built into the rear end, if your looking for a cheap solution go with the pred, if you want something with some serious power with a bunch of after market options go with the vanguard engine.

23hp vanguard, rev kit, billet pushrods, huge cam, and bigger starter, totally came to around $2000 because you need the cradle but I made my own, need a header/exhaust, and you need a clutch. You can buy a lot but you could piece together one for cheaper.

Lets clear this up on exactly what you have!

No engines have reverse! A two stroke engine can run backwards and there for make the cart move backward.

A 4 stroke engine uses a trans axle ( rear end ) that has reverse gear in it.

So what engine do you have? 2 or 4 stroke?
If you have a 4 stroke and no reverse some one has done some transplanting!

Do you have a pic of your rear end?

There is not much to a 2 stroke engine and easy to rebuild.

Some one probably has some hop up tricks? That would be the cheapest and easiest. But still would not be a power house

Transplant a HF engine loose reverse!

Transplant HF engine and 4 stroke rear end!
If you look around you can usually find a rear end for $200-300. Then a little fab work to mount it.

I have not seen any other way, But I do learn something new every day.

For what gas carts go for around here, Its probably worth putting a little money in it.
