EzGo Textron Charger

I am a newbie to the golf cart world. I have an 89 ezgo 36 volt with the ezgo textron 20484 charger. I cannot find any info on this charger or how it works can someone please help me by explaining how it works? Its the green faced charger with dial and amp meter.

basically the dial is a timer, and you set it depending on how long you want it to charge for. It is older technology so it does not shut off automatically. The amp meter tells you how much the charger is putting out. Generally speaking, the higher amps you see it putting out means the battery pack needs a good charge. if it puts out low amps when you turn it on, chances are you charged it recently and it has not drained that much yet. Remember, however, mechanical issues can also cause the charger to not put out so much amps, such as a bad capacitor. so basically that's how it works. Automatic smart chargers are obviously more desirable, but if it works fine then no reason to upgrade
