Default 1982 Cart problems ready for advice

Inherited this EZGO with a camper I bought. Won't run well enough to use. Drained and replaced fuel. Fuel pump seems to work. Replaced spark plugs and have spark. However it barely runs well enough to engage the clutch. I am at the end of my ability to troubleshoot. Where to go next?

Pulled plug and it was fuel soaked and black.

I think we need a little more info..... You think you may be getting too much fuel because carb needs cleaning/rebuilding?. My 82 would only start with the choke on for a few seconds and then if I didn't get it pushed back off quickly enough it would stall and not re-start... plug would be fouled with gas and I would have to let it sit for awhile after I cleaned the plug and reinstalled. I then found that I had intermittent and weak spark and thanks to the guys here learned that I should convert to HEI which I am hoping to finish up this A M. Take a look at what Ron Man has posted about conversion if you decide you need to go that way. Definitely lots of helpful guys here with allot of good info! Good luck and let us know how you're doin.

Repky 1 - I don't know if carb needs rebuilt/replaced. Are you saying that is the problem...dont understand your response.

Reply 2 - As far as the fuel pump, I assumed it was ok because it was pumping fuel, but if I understand the link it is saying that the issue could still be the internal workings of the pump even though fuel is flowing.

How do I decide which way to go next?

Reason I had asked you about your carb is because it sounded like maybe you were getting too much fuel.
I just read Cart Around's post from a few yrs ago and that is what (MIGHT) be going on with my 82 at the moment. I would follow this man's advice and take a look at your fuel pump.
