1984 ezgo over charging
Ok got a 84 2pg in the shop green wire from generator was going straight to this dirty white piece (witch I think is a resistor? See pic) witch is grounded after the white piece and the green wire from VR was just dangling when I hooked it up it would not charge so I'm assuming VR is bad my question is the white (resistor?) Stock or did they add it? also would this over charging be the reason F1 terminal is getting hot wrecking the post ?

Re: 1984 ezgo over charging
Looks like a Dodge ballast resistor. It doesn't belong there.

Re: 1984 ezgo over charging
The green wire on my 85 runs directly from genny to VR, And like CA said that does look like a ballast resistor used on a Dodge back in the 70's. I had a 77 Dodge van and always carried a spare as they would short out a lot lol.

Re: 1984 ezgo over charging
Thanks didn't think it belonged there after further inspection there was wires burn off in the VR so I'm assuming the owner tossed that on there hoping to get it to charge a little less than full charge but it didn't work and was putting out 18v
