Plastic-Dipping Wheels
Hi All,
Im sure this topic has been discussed before, but because Im a cheap ***, I'm considering Plasti-dipping my current wheels rather than buying new ones. Has anyone done this? How did it come out? And most importantly, how long did it last? Thanks for the input, RJ |

Re: Plastic-Dipping Wheels
I have done it for a set of wheels on my vehicle for the snow tires. It came out really well, and is still going strong after several seasons. Just need to avoid an automatic carwash that has the tireshine, that will eat the coating.
Prep is important, just scrape anything loose, and then wash with a good soap that has a wax stripper. Use a lot of thin coats to build up well. If you do get a tear, you can wet your finger with mineral spirits to sort of taper the edges and then re-spray. As guyboy mentioned, check out the design forum for more intel! |

Re: Plastic-Dipping Wheels
Plasti-dip is usually used in a somewhat "temporary" scenario. Meaning you can peel it off later.
Any reason you wouldn't just paint them? Sent from my Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70F using Tapatalk |
