3PG Ezgo only runs at about 3/4 to full choke

My 1992 ezgo marathon with a 3PG engine and a brand new carb only runs at about 3/4 choke. When I first installed the carburetor a few days ago, it ran well at about half choke. Now it has gotten worse. I am using 128:1 gas ratio.

Any ideas?

Since somebody was running it at 50:1 mix, I would suspect a clogged exhaust.

Can't hurt, but just as easy to disconnect the muffler to see what happens.

I'll try it. I set the adjustment screw on the carb all the way in and then turned it out one and a half turns. Does that sound about right?

And yes, the previous owner used it at 50:1 for all of it's life until it quit working last year.

Bad crank seals will allow air in and need to choke to make it run richer may need to check them out

Do I have to remove the engine to replace them?

I tried running it without the muffler this morning, and aside from being really loud, it still took full choke to start and only ran in full choke, if at all.

Ok. It could be sucking air somewhere else.

Crankshaft seals are most likely culprit, but could also be a case leak.

A 2pg has to come out for seal replacement. I don't know about a 3pg.

Did you pull and clean the carb ask discussed in one of the earlier threads?
