Extra battery in bagwell
So what’s the consensus for securing an extra marine battery for running a stereo and other accessories?
Basic marine battery case? How do you secure box to bagwell, bolt and nut through the body? |

Re: Extra battery in bagwell
I have my extra battery under the seat on the drivers side, secured by a small ratchet strap. My bagwell has 2 6v batteries for my 48v setup, they are secured by a custom built hold down bracket bolted through the bagwell. So yes a battery box secured through the bagwell would work fine IMO.

Re: Extra battery in bagwell
Check out the lithium 12v tractor batteries from autozone. I had one for my stereo and it worked great. Lasted about 3 hours on a charge. Typical lawn tractor size and weighs 4lb. Also can be mounted at any angle giving you more mounting options

Re: Extra battery in bagwell
so what about hooking them up in a series for a gas cart. bag well is a good spot, two good marine batteys. should run stereo all day with no issues i would think. and they would both charge when running the cart

Re: Extra battery in bagwell
Hooking them up in series would give you 24 volts. You don't want that.

IIRC the one I had was about 350cca, it was the biggest one they had about the size of a typical riding mower battery. My stereo was about a 20-25 amp constant load and it lasted around 2.5-3 hours on a charge without the built in meter getting to the danger zone. I never actually timed it to get an exact number, but that’s in the ballpark. I don’t know how the conversion works from cca to ah, or even if there is one to be honest. I tried finding out the overall capacity when I bought it to get an idea how long it would last on a charge and couldn’t find anything. I’d imagine that the winch only pulls full load for a short time just to break the initial suction from the mud and then drops significantly. So it would probably be enough to get you out a couple times. ATV’s have a smaller battery and winches work on them without an issue. So the other question is how often do you get stuck?
