Only one wire from pulsar coil
Bought a non-running 2pg cart cheap. The wiring is a mess. Everything I see shows two wires coming from the pulsar coil (blue & red?) but mine only has a single black wire coming from the bottom of the motor. Is this normal or should I pull the motor and take a closer look? I'm guess this will require pulling the flywheel.

Re: Only one wire from pulsar coil
You should definitely have 2 wires coming from under the flywheel. They are red, and blue with a plug on the end going to the factory igniter.
It sounds like somebody has done some splicing. |

Re: Only one wire from pulsar coil
So I pulled the flywheel cover and found that the cart actually has a points ignition system. So I guess I'm back to the drawing board.
My cart has 125 PSI for compression in forwards and backwards, the fuel pump has strong flow, the mix system has been deleted, and I have a strong spark when grounded but yet the cart won't even fire. Also I have cleaned the carbs 3 or 4 times. I figured something was off with timing. I'm currently reading through a post on setting the points. Any advice would be appreciated. |

Re: Only one wire from pulsar coil
My personal advice would be to buy a blown motor from a newer cart, then swap the timing plate and flywheel, along with the HEI ignition mod. I did exactly that this past fall, definitely worth doing. I found it impossible to find replacement points for these carts, so it would only be a matter of time before you’re up a creek. The cranks are identical, at least in my case, so case splitting wasn’t necessary.

Re: Only one wire from pulsar coil
Look in the exhaust port, and move the piston up, and down.
If you see a square hole in the side of the piston, it's in backwards. That would cause it to not start. |

Re: Only one wire from pulsar coil
I replaced the cylinder and piston due to major damage to both. Just double checked that I installed it correctly and it is right.
Not finding many motors. Any suggestions on where to find some? |

Re: Only one wire from pulsar coil
We have a local golf cart dealership, so I just went in there to find mine. I’d maybe put out a wtb ad on your local craigslist, or even on this site.
