Cart runs but no power
Hello friends, I have a 2002 gas ezgo with the 29 Robin engine. I bought it a few months ago and wasn't running very well. I replaced fuel filter, carb, fuel pump, and gas lines. New plugs, fresh gas, runs good on flat ground but on an incline seems to die. Ran it without the seat and watched the clutch and belt both seem to be functioning ok. Compression is good on both cylinders. Checked the coil it was questionable so got a new one and still same response. And we did clean the new carb to be sure all is clear with the jets and the float. Any ideas where to look next. Thanks in advance Danny

Re: Cart runs but no power
valve clearance?
carb could still possibly be bad even WITH a carb clean thats all i can really think of off the top of my head is it getting enough fuel maybe the pump could be faulty and too weak? is it getting enough air and not choking itself down? |

Re: Cart runs but no power
I am not familiar with the 29 engine. The 295 and 350 engines I have owned showed similar signs. Even with 125 Psi of compression, the engines required rebuilding (1 required boring and new pistons) to bring back the full power.
And, I sis buy 1 new carb that was no good and has to be returned. |

Re: Cart runs but no power
Great advice guys adjusted the valves and made a huge difference. Two were down tight where I couldn't even get the feeler in and 2 were loose and had to be tightened down slightly. Appreciate all that responded. Danny

Re: Cart runs but no power
The two that were tight were probably intake valves. That is a tendency with EZGO Robin engines. Make absolutely certain your air intake is sealed tight from dirt ingestion. If the intake valves continue to tighten up you might want to replace them.
