Default 99 EZGO TXT - Converting Air Filter

Hey pros, I am thinking about replacing the standard rectangular Air Box on my EZGO with some sort of cone shaped K&N filter. I live in a dusty dirty area and I have noticed that dirt still appears to be working into the carburetor side of the air box. I would love if anyone who has done this conversion can post some picks or even link to some sort of conversion plate. My air box is mounted to the carburetor with 2 bolts and 2 nuts in a square pattern.

Thanks in advance.

Make sure this crankcase breather hose is hooked up to the air box and engine
And make sure it’s dry rotted and cracked open.

Not sure if it will help with dirt getting in, but it will definitely make the cart louder...not in a good way IMO.

edit: Sorry, just realized the date of this post!

You’re going to have to rejet the carb or it’s gonna run very lean. Stock airbox is pretty restrictive and the carb is tuned for that airbox.

Also, you’re better off with a good air filter in the stock airbox. The K&N style filters let a lot more air in. How? They flow and breathe easier/better. This is accomplished by larger “holes” for the air to flow through which will let more dirt and dust through as well. This is why they require you to oil them to help “stick” that dirt as it flows through.

A good quality paper filter will trap more dust. Just change it regularly
