Default rear clutch is stuch

I just baught my first golf cart Its a 94 ezgo I think the driven clutch spring is week because the shives never close all the way and the belt neve comes all the way to the top pf the clutch. I am trying to pull the clutch with now luck, I believe it is rusted to the shaft, I pulled the bolt and tried to pull it off like you would a snowmobile then when that didnt work I tried a 3 jaw puller still no luck am I missing something?

Have you tried soaking it with a rust solvent?

Soak it with rust buster first, then use a large pickle fork (ball joint tool) between the bearing support on the case and the clutch. You may get away with a pry bar, but be careful not to damage the driven clutch.
Hope this helps. They can be a bear to get off...

Kroil is some of the best stuff for rust and penetration creeps into openings as small as a millionth of a inch

Am I right about the clutch not functioning correctly the belt never comes to the top of the shives it is always down a good 1/4 of an inch. the belt is new and is the corect one I can spin it by hand and get it to the top but it will not return there on its own.

polaris, How does the cart perform? You can clock the driven clutch once it is removed, but if the cart drives o.k, then I wouldn't bother with it. I've had many carts that the belt was down in the groove 1/4" or better. The higher the belt rides on the driven, the more torque you will have.

the cart is slow from a start and lacking up hills unless you have a good run at them. next year I plan to put a 440 fan cooled polaris engine in it with the polaris clutches but because the race season is coming quick I will use it stock this year.

Bring on the POWER!!!
Take the time gettin' the driven off. Then pull it apart (snap ring).
You should be able to rotate the sheeve/ spring to make the clutch tighter.
That should get ya through the season 'til ya mack daddy the thing with the sled motor. (Mack daddy? Go figure. Don't know where that came from).
Good Luck! Keep us posted...

I took the clutch apart and found a lot of dirt in it. The buttons that the helix rides on have been wore down fron the dirt and sand this is causing the shives to ride loose.
