Reverse/ Back up light
I use my cart at night when watering greens on the golf course. Some nights in the pitch black I will have to backup the cart blindly.
As a result, I had a need for a bright light in the back to see. My solution was to mount a light on the rear of the cart. I connected power to the same wire as the reverse buzzer, after the microswtch ran 1 wire to my light and grounded to the frame (gas cart) so when you put it in reverse the buzzer sound and your light shines, go to forward and every thing goes off. All carts have buzzers standard so it is very generic and easy. If you want to do this on an electric cart use the ground supplied at the buzzer or go to the 12V neg source at your batteries or converter. |

Re: Reverse/ Back up light
The reverse switch to the buzzer puts out 12v?

Re: Reverse/ Back up light
The wire to the buzzer is way small, not really made for pullin many (if any) amps through it. (not sure how many amps the micro will handle) You could probably run a decent led light off it for no more than it'll get use. If you need to run anything bigger I would have the wire activate a solenoid that's hooked up to the battery or fuse box to power on whatever

Re: Reverse/ Back up light
Yep. I think you would be better off with proper gauge wire and a toggle switch. Mount the switch where it is near the end of the F&R handle when it is in Rev so it is convenient to throw it in Rev and hit the switch when it is dark out? Good luck.

Re: Reverse/ Back up light
with the 3 seconds that I back up at one time it works great. The light is a 55w halogen. It hasn't failed and I used it for about a year. Toubleshoot if you want but it ain't broke. just trryin to pass on something that I thought you might like. Peace

Re: Reverse/ Back up light
It's a great idea Tony, i'm not knocking it. I never looked at that system to see how much power it could handle so I don't know. I know the wire going to the buzzer is really small.
