Default 1994 ezgo gas charging issue

I bought a new starter generator it burned out on the armature after about a month of periodical use. I blame that on a bad starter. I bought a new one again. This time I bought a new voltage regulator as well. My old one was not moving past 12.5 volts at full engine speed while cart is in neutral. The new one doesn't go past 12.5 volts either, unless I put the negative test prob to the ground on the frame where the first part of the negative cable mounts.. I am assuming that the first new bad starter issue was not due to the voltage regulator being bad but possibly really just a bad new starter. Please advise am i okay to drive the cart or do i risk burning up the starter again

If you are only showing 12.5 volts at the battery, but more at the frame, I would say bad battery, or bad grounding cable going to the battery.

It sounds like the generator is just screaming like a banshee putting out all of that energy, but it has nowhere to go. It then gets converted into heat.

I will revise my last post. It can't be a bad battery. The generator would still show higher voltage at the battery post.

The battery is brand new. I also replaced all of the negative cables with new ones. I did put a charger on the battery this weekend after a couple days use and its 100%
