1988 gas from over flow

I have what I believe to be 1988, I have new fuel pump and carb. The problem is I have gas coming out the vent. Took fuel pump apart it is fine, adjusted the the float and still the same problem maybe I'm not doing it correctly. anyone that can give advise it would be appreciated.

Gas coming out of the vent means that it's getting into the float bowl, but not getting out the way it's supposed to.

So now we need more information.

Why did you change the pump, and carb?
Was this problem there before you changed them?
Did the cart just quit running?
Was there any major engine work done?
If so, has it run since then?
What is the history of this cart?

I'm assuming it's probably a Chinese carb and more than likely needle isn't seating properly when you adjusted the flow did you blow air in the the fuel inlet and raise the float to see when air flow stopped? Air flow should stop when float is level

Thanks for replying guys. I just tried adjusting the float again same results, I'm going to try one more time. I bought new fuel pump because I thought I was having a fuel issue and sure enough one of the diaphragms had a hole in it. I replaced the original carb because the fuel hose connection was worn and would not stay seated in carb body. Yes it's a Chinese carb, but I took the needle from the old carb because it has a soft tip. I did replace cylinder head and piston but the cart ran great took it out this spring and these other issues developed.

It sounds like the main jet is clogged.
The bolt that holds the bowl on is cross drilled to let gas into the center tube. It has to be free, and clear. If you tightened it too much, the bowl will crush, and block those cross drilled holes.

Moving on. The center tube screws into the carb body. That needs to be removed, and cleaned out. There are several tiny tiny holes that all need to be cleaned. Every orifice in that tube needs to be clean.

Go to fig J-5 on page J-7 That tube is item 8. The main jet is item 2. The cross drilled bolt is at the bottom. They all have to be removed, and cleaned. Make sure the gasket at the bottom bolt is not blocking the cross drilled holes.

First Thanks for the manual. I took it apart yesterday, cleaned everything took torch tip cleaners and went in every hole followed by carb cleaner then air from compressor adjusted float to specs from the manual, with no success same thing.tried to drive it with seat off so I could watch it fuel would come out the vent then it would die I pulled the choke out and it would run {badly} enough to get it back to the garage. I'm not a wiz but I just don't get It! needle should close stop fuel flow. Btw this is second new carb. Is there something else that would cause this problem, reed valves, crankcase seals? I'm completely baffled.

After reading some post this morning [Dave box history of these carts I have an 83] the muffler is horizontal.

I gave up with the Chinese piece of garbage!! Put metal weld on the fuel hose connector and put the original carb back on, don't know how long it's going to last but no other choice. If any one has a carb body that they want to part with I'm in.

Just curious - does it have a brass float in the carburetor? Doesn't really matter - plastic or brass - shake it - does it rattle? A float can't float if its full of gas. If it's brass take it outside and warm it with a lighter. A little heat and the vapor is forced out the leak, it will burn like the lighter. If your careful you can get it completely empty -- then use a soldering iron and seal up the leak.

BE CAREFUL NOT TO POINT THE LEAK DOWN -- IT WILL FORCE OUT LIQUID FROM THE LEAK AND BURN YOUR HANDS. ALWAYS POINT THE LEAK TO THE TOP.

Question about the float, the original float is plastic and in working order. Put it back together and runs. I now have another issue, drove it about a mile it has a hesitation like it's losing spark for a split second and it is interment. Any ideas where to look?
