Leaking gas
I seem to have a problem with gas leaking from the block around the exhaust area like it’s not burning off. With that being said it seems to be siphoning the gas from the tank once it sits , it’s killing me and I don’t know how to stop this anyone have a similar issue?

Re: Leaking gas
I used my Columbo like skills to determine that you are running an 89 3pg 2 stroke that was out of the cart in February.
That brings us to many more questions. Did you rebuild the entire engine? Does it run? How is the performance? What did you replace? Have you checked for obvious leaks around the gas tank, fuel lines, and carburetor? Having no other information, my GUESS is that the needle valve is stuck open, fuel is running into the engine, and you have an exhaust manifold leak allowing it to drip out. It could also be a ripped lower diaphragm in the fuel pump, but again you gave such limited information, we are still GUESSING what kind of a cart it is. |

Your skills are impressive, 89 Ez Go cart 3pg 2 stroke yes it was rebuilt new piston , new carb, new fuel pump, new lines, no leak from the gas tank, it does run not the fastest and it seems to surge when it gets up to top speed which again isn’t very fast. There is no obvious leak while driving but once it sits it’s wet at the bottom of the case in the front directly under the exhaust area and you can smell it and the siphoning seems to happen once it sits actually drained the tank , I thought someone was stealing the **** gas. I will post a photo tomorrow when I get up to where I have the cart. I’m to the point that I’m just ready to a Abandon the project it’s been a challenge. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Leaking gas
Since it is definitely siphoning out of the tank, there are only two ways for gas to get into the engine. Through the carburetor, or through the fuel pump pulse hole.
I really suspect a ripped lower diaphragm in the fuel pump because that is the shortest route. It could very well be the needle valve is stuck open, but I suspect that the carburetor would be soaking wet. Is your fuel pump direct mount, or remote mount with a long pulse line? If it's remote mount, is it above your carburetor? It could be over powering the float while sitting. If that's the case, I would move it to a point that is lower than the carburetor. Read this..... http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-e...fuel-pump.html And your lower exhaust gasket is still leaking. |

Re: Leaking gas
Ok thanks I will check all of it, the pump mounts to the block not remote, and when you say wet at the carb I noticed a light drip from the bottom of the carb where the bowl is but I thought it was just needing to be tightened a tad so I did and that seemed to stop that. The filter seems wet and I don’t know if that is normal. I don’t think the fuel pump is that expensive so I will pickup a new one.
Thanks for the information definitely appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Leaking gas
I wouldn't buy a pump yet. Especially since you have noticed a drip on the bowl, and the filter.
Take the pump apart. Check it for sure, then move to the next suspect. |

Re: Leaking gas
Ok the issue is with the fuel pump leaking, it’s coming from the inlet side of the fuel pump from the tank the connector for the hose is loose and comes out I don’t see how to fix this ? Does it mean I just need to replace it ? Or is there a fix for it ?

Re: Leaking gas
Gas leaking resolved, needed a new pump now I have a new issue when getting to upper speeds it starts to surge like it’s not getting enough fuel or it’s sucking the air cleaner in or something has any experienced an issue of surging???
