Default 84 Marathon Issues

A few questions.... As I'm trying to save myself some money and having to take my cart somewhere to get fixed.

I have some sort of gas related issue. In the process of getting a new carb which will definitely help. Currently with the carb thats on it. Cart runs but then it appears to starve for gas. Not sure why. With that said....When coming to a stop when it does run the clutch stays open/engaged.

Is the clutch going? I don't have record of what was done to the cart prior to me having it for the last few years. I know it had an overhaul on it cause the former owner said he did it himself. Engine wise for sure. Just not sure about the clutch.

Do I spend the money on a new clutch? rebuilt one of whatever. Or is it not even worth it. If the cart wasn't lifted I wouldn't attempt it.

Please let me know if there is anything else I need to post about it. Just looking for as much help as possible. Pretty broke but need to get this thing fixed.

After you replace your Carb, I would check the fuel pump first to see what the diaphrams look like if you think it's starving for fuel. Also check that it doesn't have a clogged filter. It very well could be the crank shaft seals as well. I think the way to check that is when it's running spray some WD40 around them and see if it runs any better.

You gave us your diagnosis, but you didn't tell us your exact symptoms. What makes you think it's starving for gas?

A driven clutch that stays open, and engaged will keep the cart in high gear. That will make the cart appear to lose power, be sluggish, and then stall.
