Default Newbie rebuild

This a 1998 EZ-GO workhorse. It has been sitting for about 2 years. Right now it has no battery. I'm not much of a mechanic so this will be a challenge for me. So standby for some stupid questions

Looks like a fun build... If you want to get rid of that top, I would be happy to take it off your hands... Keep the pics coming.

Looks like a nice Workhorse

You might as well change the oil and get a tune up kit while you're at it.

Hooking up battery:

Since both cables are black, I'm going to assume the cable with one thick wire and two smaller wires (total of three) is the "red" cable correct?

Red cable goes in to a little black box. Negative(-) goes to the frame...
Very important!!!

One of the cables has only two wires.......a thick black and a small white and is located closer to the back of the cart. The other cable is near the front of the cart and has three wires and I believe goes to the little black box that you speak of which means thats the Neg (-) and would hook up to the red post on the battery correct.

Red post = positive +. Black post = negative -. The black box should have a screw on top in the center. The wires coming out of the black box will hook up to the red post (+ positive) on the battery.
