Chirping sound
99 TXT.. Chirping sound like cricket on steroids. Replaced stock engine and both clutches with 23 Briggs. Chirping before , and after swap. Originally thought it was coming from one of the clutches, and changed both out with the swap. Still cant figure out where it is coming from. Sounds like an idler pulley bearing going out on a car. Does not chirp/squeal when idling, and does not do it all the time. Could it be in the brakes??

Re: Chirping sound
Well a chirping sound I normally go to head gasket.
but you changed the engine so that's out! Idler bearing going out makes what I call a minor external knock, unless your hearing the belt slipping on the idler. Does it only make the noise when moving?? Starter/gen. belt tight and not glazed over?? starter/gen bearings getting tight under heat? Could it be a brake dragging? I would jack it up front and rear spin everything and even run the cart in gear. |

Re: Chirping sound
Maybe a wheel bearing? My friend has a Yamaha that chirps and we know his wheel bearing is shot.
Does it chirp faster or slower with the speed of the cart? |

Re: Chirping sound
Does not increase with speed. Does not increase going around curves. 23hp Briggs and Stratton, so no starter/gen to be a factor. Sounds like it is coming from under cart, and not outer wheel bearing. Sprayed lube on the governor linkage and brackets figuring that it may be that sqeaking/chirping, but that did not help.

Re: Chirping sound
Maybe a dry rubber bushing in the suspension.

Re: Chirping sound
Not an air leak. More of a bare dry metal on metal chirp/squeal, with no consistency.

Re: Chirping sound
I have the same issue on my 93 and I have no idea where it’s coming from. It’s looking like a winter project just to find it. Lol
