Default Looking for advice

My serial on my cart indicates an 87 but I have a 88 carb on this motor. I'm confused? I assume this is a 2pg motor but didn't they use a bv18 carb? I seem to have a bv24? Help please.

It's entirely possible that in 32 or so years the carb might not be original to cart. Also as far as I know the 88 had more hp but I think you need the muffler and the carb but maybe someone didn't know that.

My intake manifold hole size matches a bv24 carb. Did they make a 2pg engine with a bv24? What engine do I have here?

You have a 2-pg. The spark plug sticks out of the side, and the clutches go side to side. That's what makes it a 2-pg.

The late 78-79 carts had a BV-24, and the 1988 had a BV-24 with a muffler that had the pipe going through the top of the can.

It's entirely possible that your cart was built in late 87, and they stuck a BV-24 on it.

Awesome. Thank you. So this bv24 is ok to use with the current muffler I have?
