Default engine assembly question

I am in the process of rebuild my 2-stroke 1990 ez-go enguine, when I put the piston into the cylinder its very tight and hard to move by hand, i have rebuilt v-8 truck engines before and the pistons move more freely.

So i guess the question is how hard should the piston be to move inside the jug once assembled??

in order to move the piston up or down i have to tap it with a wooden handle of a hammer

any help would be great, i would love to get this back together today

if you can't get it move with your fingers something not right! it will be snug but pushing with two fingers should get it to move.

thanks pizzaaker.

we figured it out, there was a little bur on the piston were the bottom ring rides, we cleaned it out and re-assembled, now it moves smooth and easy, I should be up and running in a few hours
