Default 2006 mci motor no spark at all

Good evening everyone, I bought 2 carts today that have issues. Figured I could fix them and maybe sell one of them. This one is a Workhorse with a MCI motor in it. Motor turns over well, but I have no spark at the plugs. Now I have some parts from junk carts. I replaced the coil first and no spark. Then I changed the igniter still no spark. Next part was the coil on the crank, still no spark. I am totally lost as to where to look next. Any suggestions

Including the bog ground strap that attaches to the bottom bolt of the coil bracket. :)

Worth checking to make sure your fan is in one piece too. The pickup coil rides inside the fan.

Ok I figured out that someone had the battery cables crossed. How did this thing even turnover and stuff like this?? I have spark and a running cart, but it runs like a dog now. Low power, compression is 96 in each cylinder. Did something get possibly damaged while the battery cables were crossed??

I'm lost what to look for next. Motor runs great, but when there is a load on it, it acts like it is high gear or something.

crossing battery terminals won't affect compression. check the valve clearances first and see if that helps. more likely a coincidence to the battery than a cause... these motors are also known to eat intake valves.
