Need some expert advice ideas on New engine installation
Hello. I am trying to install a new engine in my EZGO golf cart. I just purchased the engine from Vegas Carts and ran into a problem. I have rear coil over shocks and the engine will not line up with the clutch. Please check out pictures and see if any of the experts on this awesome site have any ideas? I would rather not have to cut and re position the shocks. Also if you notice the air filter is almost touching the shocks . If that can be move or repositioned the engine could fit and line up with clutch. Thank you!

Re: Need some expert advice ideas on New engine installation
Or are there spacers or anything that can go on the clutch rod (not sure the correct term ) to move the clutch a few inches to line up?

Re: Need some expert advice ideas on New engine installation
No expert here but-
On my EZGO, I cut the exhaust flange off the old muffler, left about 1 1/2” or so of pipe attached, and with a little filing, the holes lined up on the carb, so used it to mount an 1 1/4” dia.(?) K&N air filter. Might give you some clearance - now if I could just find that air filter; I know it’s right where I put it.. . |

Re: Need some expert advice ideas on New engine installation
The classic engine swap shock/carb problem usually found on yamaha G2-14 's. Most of us use one or some form of both of these solutions. Solution 1 Longer or shorter belt to change placement. 2 Remote or flexible fitting on carb with K&N type air filter.

A remote location sounds like maybe a better choice for me, too. More out of the dust.

Re: Need some expert advice ideas on New engine installation
Cool thanks for the quick reply. you don't by chance have a picture of the flexible attachment for replacing to a K&N type filter? And Would a longer or shorter belt work if the engine and clutch do not line up? Would the belt get messed up over time and or come off? The pictures are kind of hard to tell but the clutch is like 2 inches off. Vegas Carts said the shocks are HUGE and recommends going back to the OEM set up (I assume that means leaf springs). do these shocks make a big difference compared to the OEM leaf springs? The majority of our riding is off road trails and rocky hills> Just wondering if they are worth keeping as well. And are there better leaf springs than others (3 leaf vs. 4leaf if I can find them)? sorry for all the questions, just trying to get this all done for the next trips in February.

Re: Need some expert advice ideas on New engine installation
Is this the type part you are talking about? Or are there even better parts for moving the placement of the air filter?

Re: Need some expert advice ideas on New engine installation
The big block go kart sites might have parts to adapt. I think Shepard posted the perfect part for the VC 460 which should also fit the VC 625. Maybe he will repost it here.

Re: Need some expert advice ideas on New engine installation
I found it. He posted it on page 28 of my Vc 460 build. He lists the site with tons of pics. Also on page 4 is a set up I built and never installed using the VC 460 mikuni manifold and a snowmobile carb flange for a ski-doo snowmobile part # 07-100-12 by parts unlimited. I which think came from dennis kirk. Sho305 may jump in here as well as he has made some wild intake set ups.
