1982 gas ergo does nothing when peddle is pushed
I am trying to help a neighbor with his 1982 gas ezgo. He said it stopped after going over a bump in his field. When the peddle is pushed nothing happens. It has a new solenoid and a new battery. Any ideas? Thanks

Re: 1982 gas ergo does nothing when peddle is pushed
It's time to get a meter out, and start following the activation circuit to where it loses power.
Large cable from battery positive to large lug on solenoid. At that lug, a small wire branches off, and is connected in series with the fuse, key switch, pedal switch, and then back down to a small terminal on the solenoid. The other small terminal on the solenoid connects to ground, which is most likely the bottom lug of the forward reverse switch. I would say the connection is lost somewhere in that circuit. This manual has the wiring diagram. |

Re: 1982 gas ergo does nothing when peddle is pushed
Set the meter on DC volts. Put the black probe on the negative battery terminal.
Red probe At positive battery terminal = +12.75V At large solenoid lug = +12.75 Both ends of fuse = +12.75 Hot side of key switch +12.75 Keyed side of switch Off 0 volts Key on = +12.75v Follow wire from key down to pedal switch. = +12.75v Other terminal on pedal switch = 0v Step on pedal = 12.75v Follow wire back to small terminal of solenoid. Step on pedal. There should be voltage, but it will be less than 12.75v Same with other small terminal. There will be a voltage drop, but there will be voltage. Physically check that the negative battery terminal has a large wire connected to the frame. At that point there should be a cable connected to the engine, and another one connected to the bottom terminal of the forward reverse switch. Check them all for security, and corrosion. |

Yes. Black plastic holder. Some are mounted in the bottom of the reverse switch.
You could just start at the small terminals of the solenoid to see if there is power while stepping on the pedal. |
