Default Mixing oil in gas tank

I would like to get rid of the oil pump on my 87 Ezgo. Do i need to be concerned about just dumping 1 ounce of oil for every gallon of gas I add to the tank?
Is there a better way to insure the oil is mixed without mixing in a separate gas can?
What do most of you do?

Welcome !
We used to pre-mix for old snowmobiles, dirt bikes. And do for all of our 2 stroke equipment, chainsaws, leaf blowers. So as long as you know what ratio you require, don’t know of any problems. Someone here has a better explanation!

You should be fine dumping an ounce per gallon into the gas tank. As you drive around, the gas sloshing around in the tank will mix it in fine.

I always mix in a can, and pour in what I need to use. But... I don't use enough 2 stroke to keep a can of premix, but don't use the items enough to keep a full tank in any of them. So I just mix what I am going to immediately use.

You are probably right, I didn't think about the ongoing agitation of driving the cart.
Other than plugging the hole in the manifold do I need to do any thing else?

I would remove it all, pump/cable/lines, There's no good reason to leave the pump turning and not doing anything. Besides that I'm pretty sure it'd burn itself up if it's not pumping oil anyway......

Be sure to not only plug the manifold port (6mm bolt) but seal it too using either a gasket/O ring/washer/sealer etc.....

As far as premixing;
I prefer to do it in a can first, I think mixing it in the tank can lead to problems. I mean it's probably ok as long as you rock the crap out of the buggy before driving it.

But there will be times you won't be able to put in exactly a whole gallon/gallons of gas first, So getting part of a gallon in you'll have to go to the hassle of doing the math and measure out exactly that same percentage of an ounce of oil. And hope there's enough room left in the tank for the oil, (I'm picky and want my mixture exact).

With premixing in a can you'll know it's exactly right every time and it's a lot easier to rock the crap out of a 5 gallon can than rocking the whole buggy lol. Also I can fill the buggy tank completely and may have a little left over in the can for a reserve if need be.

When I do mix my gas I put exactly 5 gallons in the can and using a measuring cup pour in exactly 5 ounces of oil, Then I pour some of that gas back in the measuring cup, stir it around to get any residual oil that's still in the cup and pour it back in the can. This may be overkill but like I said I'm picky

Thanks for the tip about removing everything.
I don't have any place to store a 5 gal jug of gas. Might have to mix it a gallon at a time.
Thanks all.
