'87 EZ-GO 2 cycle clutch removal

New, here, but have been reading a lot. I've read every thread on removal the clutch, but look at mine, it doesn't make sense. I was further confused by this link posted in another thread:

Or one that looks identical to this, and not like any of the EZ-GO clutches shown.

I remove the bolt without any trouble, but can't figure out how to get the clutch off. The cart, which I bought for $200, isn't really worth even putting the money into the puller, so I thought I'd use the "hardware store" option. Problem is, if I have a shaft, and a bolt, there are NO THREADS at the top of this thing, so even if I had the actually puller, there's nothing to screw it into. The shaft is bare all the way down until the threads that the bolt screws into.

Any ideas/help/comments?

BTW, the background to why I want to remove the clutch is that it froze in the "engaged" position, and won't return. I don't know yet what I'm going to do with it when I get it off, but it's one step at a time.

Only $200..... in that case...... beat it off with a hammer.
I would use a puller myself, reguardless.......

What I'm trying to say is that the puller will not work. There are no threads for the top of the bolt to screw into. It is smooth all the way down to where the bolt I removed screws into.

im not sure but is'nt there a plastic bushing at the top of the clutch ?
if so then that has to come out to get to the threads.

No plastic bushing that I can see. Different clutch than shown in the video, but similar concept, I guess. I'm not sure how that tool popped his clutch off though.

It almost looks like there could have been threads on the big washer than holds the clutch on, but there aren't any there now. I'll try to get some photos to post. Maybe a big hammer is my only way to get this off.

the clutches usually have a 1"-20 thread and a 6 1/4" threaded rod for a spacer does the job, make sure there is no dirt hideing the threads, its very hard to see inside of the hole that you are trying to thread into, the engine has a tapered shaft so if all else fails, BFH will do the job, try a pickle fork or something similar. maybe a prybar

I ran a screwdriver all the way down the shaft, and it felt and looked perfectly smooth, until I hit the engine shaft threads. I guess it's the BFH to get this job down. I tried a few wacks to see if it would come off easy, trying not to mess it up any worse than it already is. I'll give it another go.

Two photos attached are the bolt I removed, and the clutch itself. I zoomed closely, at the clutch shaft, and no threads can be seen, or felt, with my finger or a screwdriver. It's perfectly smooth in there. I guess I have to go with the hammer.
