Default Voltage Regulator????

While on a long cruise friday night my cart quit. It would'nt spin fast enough to start but it also was'nt getting any fuel. My buddy pulled me back to his house and hooked a battery charger to it for about 20 minutes. It ran fine so we headed for home(8 miles). About halfway home it started spittin and sputterin(like not getting any fuel). Turned off the lights kept it floored and it started running better. Got it home and had to push it in the shop. The battery is a yellow top gell cell about 6 months old so I'm thinking it's the voltage regulator. Just thought I'd ask ya'll before I buy one. By the way gettin towed by your buddy is embarassing. At least it was another EZ-GO

Check green wire coming off the start/gen to see if it's still hooked up.(they get unpluged sometimes and the system won't charge) if it is hooked up, you can unplug and ground out to frame (the start/gen side) Test volts at battery while running. If the v/r is bad it'll read around 16v +. Doing this by-passes the v/r, that way you know that the start/gen is working and is not the problem.
