Steel versus Aluminum Wheels
I have 2005 ezgo txt, Just added 5" lift. Looking to put 22x11x10 tires & wheels, Wanting to know if there is any difference in acceleration with heavier steel wheels.
I know steel wheels are cheaper but the aluminum sure look nice. Cart is only being used for leisure driving & good looks. |

Re: Steel versus Aluminum Wheels
I don't think that you would notice the difference, or not. Believe it or not, the steel 10/8 wheel weighs in at 8.5 ilbs. A 10/7 aluminum wheel weighs 10.0 lbs. Thats from a website that sells. I would have thought steel would weigh more!
The BIG difference comes when you choose tires. 4 ply tires weigh a lot more than a two ply. But the 4 ply might last longer......GO WITH THE BEST LOOKIN STUFF YOU CAN AFFORD!!!!! |

Re: Steel versus Aluminum Wheels
You would only notice a difference if you were drag racing it. Aluminum are usually less maintenance, as far as keeping rust away from steel wheels.
