295 head on 350??
I am new to this forum, as a matter of fact, i am new to forums period. this is my first. my question is simple. i have a 1999 ezgo with a 295 and i have a 1999 350 engine with a bad head that was given to me. the head, cam, rockers and valves are all won out. i read a couple of threads that said i could put my 295 head on teh 350 engine for more power gain. anyone have any helpful information on positives or regrets on doing this modification? also, any contact for a new 295 head complete with cam, valves adn rockers? thanks

Re: 295 head on 350??
I'm looking into that myself. Go to the search feature and try "Modify fuji/robin 350/295 head" That's all I know about this, but, I ordered stainless valves and HD valve springs and they should be here tomorrow. I don't think you need aftermarket cam. FFred doesn't use it, some do. There are all kinds of neat stuff out there. valves, springs, carbs, cams, MSD ignitions, superchargers, headers, intakes, billet flywheels.... $$$$
A new head would cost as much as a new stock motor complete!! Check the sponsors first. Then, *********** is a Gcart junkyard in Athens, AL. (800-262-6861) I bought a complete used head for $250.00. The guy there pieced it together w/ the BEST used parts he had. It looks new. GOOD LUCK! |

Re: 295 head on 350??
So, where is the gain with the 295 head on a 350? Smaller combustion chamber? Bigger valves? Bigger or better ports?

Re: 295 head on 350??
I've done this mod. It's easy. All Gain No Pain. The head is the same port wise. The biggest difference is Compression. The 295 head is a closed chamber design, compared to the 350 head is a open chamber design. They claim 9hp gain. I don't know about that. But it is very noticeable in the seat of the pants. I put on a bigger carb and ported the intake ports to match. They say a cam helps too, but I did not have the funding for it.

Re: 295 head on 350??
quadmaster, i heard different things since posting this and from other sources. however, since you did this, did you do change anything from the stock valves and springs? one person told me to change my connecting rods which i am not planing to do. will the 350 carb work just fine? or do i need to rejet it? if possible, can you just summerize what you did? i am not looking to race, just a little more power without a lot of work and money. Thanks very much!
