I got a cart also in my shop that I own. As far as I know the wiring has never been messed with. When I get time I will tell you exactly how it is wired. Mine runs perfect. Cranks the minute I hit pedal and never quits. Back later to see if I can give you more info.

Canuc- I know right! I donít understand.

Iíll try the extra grounding wire. Iím also going to undo all the connections on the plate and clean it up to make sure I have good grounds.

Iím also interested in taking off the fan cover to clean where the pulser is. Iíve seen other threads on here talking about these same symptoms and cleaning it worked.

I feel like Iím almost out of trouble shooting options.

do you see how far that spark has to jump to make a connection on the tester I don't think the ezgo coil is strong enough to make that jump

I changed those 2 connectors on the coil and with a little choke it fired right up. Had it run for about a minute on full throtle and no sputter. I stopped and started it several times after letting it sit for a few minutes each time and it fired right away with no hesitation. I plan to use it this weekend hopefully to give it a good test. Styles I'm cheering for ya to find something simple. I know you said your going to clean the grounding plate but while your at it you may as run an extra from the batt neg to one of the bolts holding things on the grounding plate, sure couldn't hurt to cover your basis. I tried to send some vids from my phone to my email so I could attach them but failed. Anyway. I'll let you all know hopefully after this weekend

I am not sure about your no fire condition. I do know with the spark tester you got you will get a no fire condition when checking the longer plug wire if you don't put the short plug wire back on plug.

If you check for spark on the shorter wire you can leave the long wire off and the tester should fire .

The cart I have at my shop has never been messed with on wires. The red wire on small terminal of solenoid leaves there and goes into harness.

If you look at the picture I uploaded you will see it connected to the white wire in plug in connection. Goes in red and comes out white. Don't ask why but it does.

I checked with a meter set to continuity and it is the white one on the cart that is hot when pushing pedal.

I have one lead of my meter to red wire on solenoid and the other to white wire on coil and I have continuity. Again this is how my cart at shop is wired and it runs great.

That's why I said earlier that the white wire was the one that connects to positive terminal of coil but it really don't matter as it will fire either way.

Look close at the ground wire of ignitor ( black with white stripe ) is making good connection where it plugs in harness. I have seen when it was there but not seated all the way in on the ignitor. Number 3 in my picture. Those pin connectors are sometimes bad. Look at all of those close, especially pulser connection.

Orange with white stripe also connects to same small terminal on solenoid.

I have helped some many people here at my shop and at buggies gone wild I get confused on what or who I am even posting to.

Grounds cause more fining issues than ignitors and coils. It would be nice if you had another ignitor you could plug in. That's the only way to test.

I also never test a coil as I have extra good ones in my shop and if I think that might the problem I just lay one on top of engine and connect the wires. It don't have to be grounded to fire. You can even swap the wires on the coil and it will still run. Both plug wires fire at the exact same time.

I wish you luck. I never had the problems you are having and a few others here. I always start with cleaning those grounds.

You can check those wires in harness with the meter to make sure the are not broke anywhere. Probably not but being you are having this issue might be a good idea to test.

Connect the DVOM to the pulser. Set to AC volts on lowest scale you got. Spin engine over. It will produce around 1/2 volt AC if all is good. No need to clean if you have those reading.

Since changing the 2 connectors on the coil I have had the cart out for 2 rounds. Cart ran without a sputter. Hopefully it stays that way. Like I said before without all of your input I would still be trying to figure it out. So thanks to everyone who was kind enough to share their knowledge. Hopefully now I can pay it forward and lend my knowledge to someone in need. I'll follow this thread in hopes that Styles gets his issue sorted out.

Nice Canuc!!

We had one of our kids bday party this weekend, so now working on the cart. During this week Iíll have a couple evenings to test some stuff- first up will be to clean and re-ground all the grounds. Then Iím not sure whatís next. But that will be a good next step.

I cleaned up the ground wires and added the extra ground from the battery Neg to the plate. I was able to drive it from my house up the the golf clubhouse and back. It tried a couple times to sputter from a stop point but it made it back. So I feel like Iím getting closer but itís still not giving me a dependable feeling. I may try to take it out tomorrow for 9 holes and see. The ground wires copper color was all dark so I think the wires are bad in the harness.

I wouldn't worry too much about the sputter . Lets make sure for now it don't quit on you again. Get those clubs out and go play some golf today and make some birdies then report back
I would do the same but some reason I like working better.
