advice on rebuilding 2006 TXT

Hello, I am usually over on the electric Ez go forum. I have a chance to buy a 2006 TXT here locally. It has the engine out of the cart now. The engine has 2 bent rods. It's been apart for awhile , both clutches are missing as well as the carb is missing. I can do the work but there arent many places around here to get used parts. i.e. the clutches. Any one in the north east that deal in used parts? Any comments would be appreciated. It's more of a hobby to fix it up. Thanks.

Ebay or buy/sell section here would be your best bet for used parts.

If both rods are bent you may be in for a crankshaft as well, usually.bent rods would be a sign of a larger failure

That would be the 295 MCI engine. How about the ignition parts, are they still there. The MCI ignitors are high dollar. Check real good to see what all is missing other than the clutches and carb.
Unless you know where you can find used parts I might leave it .
It sounds like someone has been taking parts off as it has probably been sitting for a while. These clutches are high.

I have used parts and I would buy one in a minute if the body was in good shape but I have been collecting for some time now. Is the muffler still there ? Tires good ? brake drums still on it ? Rusty ?
Just a few tips on buying a cart that has things missing and a blown up engine.

The overall shape of the cart is pretty good. Steering tight, rolls good, brakes hold. Tires good. Roof but no windsheild. No rust. All wiring and electrical is there. Starter is there. They tell me there was a recall or something on the cart for rings. They replaced the rings then for whatever reason bent the rods. They had several that they replaced the rings on and this is the last one they have. I figured ther clutches would be the most pricey. After market carb is only 40 bucks.Chinese I would imagine. It would make a nice cart but the parts make it cost prohibitive. Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it.

Vegas cart swap

Part out the old engine to help fund the Vegas swap. Those parts are getting hard to find and fetch some good money.

You're looking at $700-800 easy for clutches and carb. Figure $250 for primary clutch, $200 for secondary clutch, and another $300-350 for a carb. Plus rods, possibly crankshaft, and whatever else it takes to get it running.

For about $1500 you can have a beast of a 23hp Vegas carts drop-in kit. If the price of the cart is right (few hundred bucks cheap) it would still be worth it.

I will have to go back over and see how cheap I can buy it. I have been on an electric cart for quite a while now but thought this would make a good project. I am not familiar with the Vegas swap....is there some where I can read up on it. Appreciate your help! Thanks

that 23hp swap would be basically a direct bolt in, and from everyone i've talked to that has one, they make crazy power!

I've thought about running that one but I've had to design custom brackets and mounts, so that my cart lays frame so I'm not sure how much trouble it would be to adapt. Hopefully, I'll run into someone that has one that I can look at.
