Default 02 txt shuttle eh350

i have a shuttle with the eh350
carb has been cleaned twice.
fuel filter air filter has been replaced.
valves have been checked.
all grounds to engine/battery cleaned and checked.
new plugs
cart will chug a little at startup and eventually get past its hickups. runs down the road just fine. after full cruising speed i let off the gas and allow the cart to come to a complete stop. i will then try and take off like normal... get the engine to start and push my foot down to get going. it will spit and chug for a bit until the rpms are up and it will run fine. only at startup or getting the cart going does it have an issue. could this be timing? it runs fine once up and going. not sure what position the little black knob on top of the carb has to be in? i'm losing hair......

IF it's running fine at higher RPM then timing should be fine. Valves and etc. should be fine. Usually if that's an issue, it will bog on the higher end but run fine at low RPM.

What happens if you choke it? Does it help or hurt if you pull the choke when starting from a stop?

i will give that a try, the only thing that i have not gone through is the fuel pump.....however my brain tells me that if the bowl is full it should not have a problem with fuel on take off...... unless idle circuit is dependent on fuel pressure....?

so i tried to continually choke it during the hesitation period and it didn't like it. its almost like a electrical issue it seems to me. i can start it and get it to idle just fine but when i try to put her to the wood she sputters, i can gradually work through the sputters and get to a higher rpm it will run good.

It really doesnt sound like an electrical issue to me. Spark/electrical issues usually wont be present at low rpm if you stab the pedal and run out fine in higher RPM. If anything electrical issues are usually the opposite.

Sounds like a fuel issue to me. If choking makes it worse, it sounds like it's running rich. Is the carb OEM or aftermarket?

Try removing the intake tube off the carb and see if having the carb open to the elements makes it any better. Have you checked compression? What kind of numbers are you seeing?

I believe there should be an air mix screw on the carb. Maybe just a simple adjustment. And double check the valves. Do the 2 middle valves show a lot more threads than the outside 2 valves? If so those valves are shot and need to be replaced.

i don't believe it to be valves but I will double check those. I am aware that the 295 and 350 like to eat intake valves. carb is an OEM carb with small black hand screw right on top of the carb right tight to the spacer that bolts to the head.(idle adjustment?) i will have to pull the square air filter out that will take away any restriction. it will only run out fine once I gently get through the hiccups. sometimes when powering up into the better rpm when it acts normal its like someone hit the switch and clears right up and is responsive. going to look at fuel pump in the morning. could it just be junk gas from winter storage?

Spark issues will cause it to shoot back out carburetor when you hit it hard taking off. It will act just like an intake valve issue.

I worked on one last summer and almost give up. You could gradually hit the gas and it would take it and not spit back. The minute you opened it wide open fast flames would shoot back out carb.

I had a spare OEM coil in shop . I had almost eliminated the coil as it looked new. The rest of the engine was dirty but this coil was pretty and white on top.

I put my used OEM coil on and the problem went away even though this new coil Ohms good. Connected the new coil back and same thing, shooting and backfiring. Coil was bad.

Cart is running today perfect. Coil went in trash as I didn't want to mess up and install it later forgetting it was the issue that like to drove me goofy

Make sure that gas is fresh if you have to drain it out. I can share the tip on getting the gas out easy if you don't know.

coil ohm out with good numbers. what is weird to me if the coil would be bad wouldnt it carry through all rpm ranges instead of just at idle ?
can anyone give me further incite into the black adjustment screw on top of the carb.... could this be some of the issue.
