Default Another "FNG" trying to Fix up a EZ Go Cart

Hello All,

I have had a couple golf carts and never had any trouble with them so I have never needed to look around for help before now! I found BGW and have spent hours jusr reading other threads and wow! this is a cool *** site.

I have a EZGO cart around a 1990 with a robin 2 cylinder 4 stroke engine? I had the govenor all tweaked out so the cart would just fly, however that did not last long. The cart finally lost all power. It would still fire up and run, but was so powerless that it would not even move the cart? I started pulling things apart and noticed there was some oil in the air cleaner box? I figured it had blow the rings?

I was just going to tear it down and rebuild it but figured I would see what the pros have to say?

Alright, I got impatience and did the compression test, 1 cylinder was good, and the other was bad. I tore the top end apart and I have a valve that looks more like a noodle than a valve, pistons still look good. The valve guide and one of seats in a litle dinged up? I think getting this thing fixed should be easy? My bigger concern is what caused it? Would running the enigine without being governed be enough to cause this? a friend of mine who is a auto mechnic says it should not have? It seems to like it could have? Your thoughts

Thanks
MIke

High rpm on the stock robin head will beat the valve seats into the head. You can get away with it in short bursts, but if yer gonna run far, you need to spend some $ on head work...

cool, Thanks for the feed back, I thought the High RPMs would do it. I have the motor torn down, and the head stripped down too. What kind of head work would you recomend if I want the engine to handle the R's

which one? FNG or ***

I just found it intresting that someone bears the name "christian" which can mean decent; respectable should in his first post have 2 "not so decent" words/statements!
