Default EZGO 1990 Gas 2 stroke Engine issue

I have great compression, spark, replaced the carb. and fuel system is fine. The engine barely runs. I suspect the seals. Is there a way to check the seal to see if they are leaking? Looked around the forum and did not find anything.

Thank you,
Ken

I recently battled the same beast (and lost... but at least I was right about the seals stopping it from running lol). Depending on how bad they are will change how they react. If you can get it to run, spray some carb cleaner behind the clutch and see if it affects how it runs if that seal is bad. You can try to spray it in/around the fan when it's running, but not easy to get it to the seal itself.

On mine, if you took off the fuel pump and put your finger over the hole, it had no suction/pulse on the fuel pump hole when you turned the engine over. Mine, the seal behind the flywheel was completely blown out, and it was dangling around the end of the crankshaft just bouncing around freely. After I replaced the seal, even turning the motor over by hand it clearly had a STRONG suction/pulse when you turned the engine over. Very, very noticeable.

I also had no suction on the carb if I put my hand over it while cranking the motor. So even if I put fuel in the carb myself, it wasn't drawing it into the engine. After I had new crank seals it sucked so hard on the carb it tore my rubber glove :)

Thanks for the info. I figured it is seals.

I have good fuel flow from the fuel pump and suction at the carburetor. Still not sure it is Seals.

replaced the seals, still will not run. Have great spark, great suction through the carb. Replaced the fuel pump. The engine catches occasionally, but not enough to stay running. Anyone with any thoughts.

Thanks,
Ken

What happens if you spray a little starting fluid or carb cleaner into the carb while cranking? How did you set the timing when you reinstalled the flywheel? The ring around the pickup coil should be about in the middle of the slots for the screws.
