BV18 carb
I need a carb kit for a 1983 mikuni bv18. Th ones i see are $50+. Or i can get a new knock off for $18.. Any insight? I rather keep the mikuni but its hard to justify the cost.

Re: BV18 carb
If you still have a Mikuni then that's your best choice, any idea what exactly is wrong with it? What all comes in the rebuild kit? I had to replace mine many years ago (with a cheapie) as the throttle shaft had worn out the bore
I've had decent luck with the cheapies but a lot of others have not, although I am on my third one but that's in the last 20 years. I've got about 5ish years on this one and still going strong. |

Re: BV18 carb
I'm assuming there should be a clip on the needle that attaches to float but there is none. Throttle shaft is acceptable. Which are the best cheaper carbs? This cart has a steel diamond plate utility bed. Any idea of the model?

Re: BV18 carb
Post some pics maybe someone will know if it's a factory box or add-on, there is such a model called 'Workhorse' but not sure if they came out in 83. It shouldn't make a difference anyway on a new carb............
I don't remember if there's a needle clip but I'd guess there isn't on mine, $50+ just for that? Ouch!! You really don't get a choice on which cheapie carb ya get, I've seen Mokuni and Makuni lol. |

Not sure how to post pics here. Got some elswhere on here. Under groups i think. The float has the provision for a clip.

Re: BV18 carb
I'm guessing that's a factory box, Mainly because of the seat backrest. So maybe that is a 'Workhorse', I'm just not sure

Re: BV18 carb
The needle valve does not have a clip to attach to the bowl! It drops with gravity.
