I promised you pics of my first cart.
First I'd like to say thanks to everyone that has helped me with my questions and to those who will answer my questions that are yet to come. So on the way back from a trip to NC my friends and I were talking about how cool it would be to have a golf cart. Then it clicked, 4 or 5 months ago I had a talk with a tennis pro at a club I used to manage about the golf cart that has been stationary for about a year. He said it doesn't run right and the owner doesn't want to pay to get it fixed. So when we got back to Augusta I sent him an email asking if I could take his "yard ornament" off their hands. He said I can have it as long as I find him a pressure washer to borrow and if I do a few things here and there on their pool and wooden bridges. When we finally got it back to the house the battery was dead. Charged it, got it running and found it would only run about 5 mph. There was a loud clicking/banging coming from the engine. When we drained the oil, we had put some in cause it wasn't reading on the dipstick, a piece of metal came out. After we got the engine open we found the connecting rod to the piston head had sheared. Somebody was looking out for us cause the pieces of metal didn't cause any of damage to the piston sleeve. Friday we went to J&M Golf Carts, got the head, rings, connecting rod and a fuel filter. After some answered questions about the timing belt, thanks pizzamaker, we were back in business running at full speed. We're planning on modifying like most people are. Lift, paint, wheels and we're looking at fabricating a seat that will attach to the load bed for when we need room for passengers. Here are some pics of our first of hopefully more.
