Default 28 Degree Clutch affect on top speed

Well I swapped out the clutch on my 2008 TXT with 295 Robin. It seems that my cart has lost about 2 MPH is this a normal experience? I also set the valves to .004 while it was down. I’m running 22” tires as well.

Both clutches, the 36 degree and 28 degree dimensions are the same . The 28 degree just hold the belt in lower ratio longer for more torque. Top end should be the same.

Built a home made driven clutch take apart tool with a piece of threaded rod and a piece of conduit cut out to reach the inner clip. Might be worth your while to see if the ramp buttons are in good shape along with the ramp.

Personal choice....with 22 inch tires...I prefer the 36 degree clutch.

Well I went with a 28 degree clutch because I have some really steep hills on my golf course and with two people it wouldn’t pull the hills without a long running start.

28 degree clutch fights the drive clutch a little harder which is what gives you the extra torque... a brand spanking new drive belt would probably get you those couple mph back... for a while anyway... maybe set the high end rpms a tick higher... or just be happy with the extra torque and take your pickup when you need to get there faster

You can actually remove the cover while still on the cart. There are three arms that get froze and needs some WD-40 or something similar. The spring can also break and it can be replaced. I included a picture of what it looks like torn apart on bench.
Another picture of it still on the cart.
I would remove the cover while drive clutch is still on cart and check those arms. The metal cover will tap right off using something like a small punch after those bolts are removed that hold it on. The arms should move easy. If cart has been sitting most of the time they do freeze up. I call them flyweights. Not sure what correct term is but that is good enough because as the engine speeds up they fly out :)
Include a picture of yours
