Now I'm ashamed of myself. We should have looked into the exhaust port several days ago.

Don't beat yourself up. One of the only reasons to look into the exhaust port would be to verify the piston wasn't in backwards, creating a no power situation. But since the motor would get to full throttle, I wouldn't have leaned in that direction either. The missing skirt is not in the engine and it look's like its been broken a long time from the darkness and exhaust crud on the break. Evidently this has been apart sometime in the past, pulling the cylinder to remove broken pieces. Although I can only speculate.

My original thought process was steering me in the direction of crank seals as well after replacing the parts that I did.

Cart Around, just a follow up. The motor is back together and in the cart. It is running great. I get a backfire once in a great while when letting off full throttle. I'm assuming that the original problem was probably the crank seals since the compression was still at 120 psi, but who knows at this point. The broken skirt on the piston could have contributed to the problem as well.
