It ain't going to last long. Those valves are pulled into head. You will be adjusting often.
Now if it were my cart I would be planning on removing the engine and replacing those intake valves.. Just clean up the exhaust and lap them in. I never replace those.

Get rear cam seal, plate gasket, head gasket and if it were me I would replace the timing belt while I was in there and of course valve seals. You would be good to go if you if your engine didn't smoke. That compression will jump up to around 170 if you do this.

What a bummer! Guy I bought it from said it was a good cart and had no problems. Seemed good when I bought it. Only drove it on the flat land. Any ways, it seems like alot of work to remove and replace those parts. I'm handy but not sure I can pull and replace. What would a job like that cost? Or what if I upgraded the motor. I would like more speed and torque.

Don't feel bad about it. I checked a cart yesterday for a person that was told all he the cart needed was a good carb cleaning. I removed the valve cover for him and showed the exact thing yours had. His was actually missing on one cylinder .

I always tell people to get someone who knows these carts to check then out before you buy. Make them let you check the compression and if they won't then just walk away. In your case its too late. I might contact the seller unless you bought from an unknown person.

Now if you have ever done any mechanic work then its not a big deal to do this job. Maybe you can get a friend to help you. These engines can be be sit on the table in 30 minutes. It takes me a little longer because I am older
Other options like going to a larger engine is quite expensive. Vegas carts has the upgrades and many here have did them.

If you want to just do the valve replace then people here can help. Not that big of a deal to just replace the intakes. The timing belt has to come off anyway.

Did you ever tell me this ?
Does you engine smoke ?

You can adjust these valves and use it for a while but I got to say it is not going to last very long until you have to do it again.

Also take a picture of the governor spring. People zip tie them or compress them to make them go faster. That builds heat and help cause these intakes to sink in head quicker than they normally would. Like others here have said. The intakes are known to do what yours have done. Soft valves.

Rebuilding the engine is another story for someone that has never did work like this. Not sure about your skill level.
There is also the option of a rebuilt engine and there is a good company that does this type of work. I would highly recommend them.
The valve replacement is what I would be looking at doing. This don't cost very much if you can do it yourself.

Trig pretty much summed it all up

Drain the oil, clean the air box out, put in exactly 1.5 qts and run it for a while. If it doesnt smoke, and you stop getting oil in the airbox then all you should need is new intake valves and you'll be good to go. Yours probably look something like this next to a new one. Theyd work great for cutting tiny pizzas, but not so much as a valve anymore.

I dont do any of that. But then again, i think I've only bought 1 cart that actually ran when I got it, and it doubled service as a mosquito fogger it smoked so much

You and I can repair these and we only buy them because we can. Most of the people that call on me can't do these things .
I have people call me every week asking my opinion on a cart they are looking at. Some listen and some don't.
The one that was brought to me yesterday was awful and the person was wanting $2800 for it. I raised the seat and knew right away that somebody was trying to flimflam ( like my word ) a buyer.

You say flim flam. I say screw

You should see the arsenal of stuff I bring when I buy a car though. I've had salesman give up and walk inside and just say "let me know when youd like to take it for a test drive" most cars I've gone to look at buying for myself or others never even make it to a test drive before I walk away

Haha, I'm usually pretty thorough when buying anything with a motor. This idioit is a family friend and said it was all rebuilt last year and that it was good to go. I only checked the oil. I call him out and we meet in an alley somewhere or I let it go and give him the cold shoulder........ decisions decisions

Thats a tough one. Being rebuilt last year does not mean they replaced the intake valves. Maybe they looked good back then. Did you ever check the governor spring ? I am just wondering if someone has messed with it ?
