Default looking for first cart

we originally were looking for a small atv-ish vehicle for wife's use on our hobby farm. yesterday we needed to turn around and used a driveway to ask directions. saw an ezgo cart for sale - looked around further and they had lots of carts for sale! turns out we were at a home-base cart shop. think this is the way to go for us since she wants a bench seat, not a motorcycle seat and these carts seem very user friendly.

we saw a 2006 ezgo workhorse st sport for $3,850: gas, dump, new 20" tires, hitch, awning. we're looking for testimonies from those who know pricing and quality. anyone want to help?

The workhorses are great carts in my opinion, they are my personal favorite. the ST Sport model has a shorter wheel base than the rest but still has the bigger engine and is literally a workhorse. the long wheel base is better suited for hauling on hilly terrain. the manual lift cylinder of the dump bed is a pos, I've seen lots of those hydraulic rams broke but the power dump option is great if it has that.
Those carts sold for around $5000 new so I guess it kinda depends on how many hours it's been used, it's condition, and the options it has, as to what the value would be. It's really hard to give a good answer given the lack of information

Price sounds very reasonable. Is it coming from a dealer or private individual? If a dealer are they offering any warranty?
If private owner verify the year by the model # (last 2 digits)

I agree with "ruredy " on the workhorse. Great all around utility vehicles.

thanks for such a quick response. the only new specs i remember besides those mentioned (2006 ezgo workhorse st sport for $3,850: gas, dump, new 20" tires, hitch, canopy) are: headlights, tailights, horn, gas guage

he is a dealer (?) of used carts - he purchases used and modifies, freshens, and customizes them. if we went with his base with 18" wheels, it might not be able to be driven in any snow (michigan winters) without dragging. that's why we liked the 20" wheels. the base without plastic dump, hitch and canopy was listed at $2,850.

You're starting off on the right foot by getting with the experts here. Check other local dealers, craigslist etc... Just don't jump in to the first golf cart you see. My dad did that with his first golf cart and paid too much for an electric cart with old worn out batteries. Also stick with the big three, EZGO, Club Car & Yamaha.

Thinking about it ......... IMO, I'd say to go onto craigslist and look around. Unless you have to have this particular cart, I've found if you go scouring the countryside you'll find one more in line with what will work for your application for less $$ .......... You can pick up an entire lift and nice set of wheels(package) for less than the "price-break" that he's offering.

Just an example is this Club Car pretty much rebuilt with all new stuff ..... for $2900. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/golf-...ew-engine.html
Granted this one might be taller than what you'd need but this gives you an idea of what can be found ..
