Default 13 hp Kawasaki performance

Hello all, I used the info here to adjust the throttle cable on my 2008 EZGO Custom ST with the 13 hp kawa. Big increase in hill climbing speed. I saw on a post where going to far can be dangerous. Is that safety dangerous or tearing up the motor dangerous? Right now it seems to do fine, just wondering what a little more may or may not do. Thanks for the help.

I am not 100% familiar with the setup on the new EZ Go carts with the FJ400 engine, but it should be setup with a rev limiter which would cause the engine to cut out at high RPMs. If you are careful and don't run the cart wide open for long periods at a time, you should be fine with or without the rev limiter. I have three carts we are running the FE400 Kawasaki engines in and without abusing them, they have held up without any problems.

I have not touched the rev limiter I dont think at least. I was not looking for top speed, just some more hill power. So far it seems much better.

To be safe, if you are happy with the new adjustments, it might be best to leave it as is.

To be completely safe invest in a tach of some kind and then research what the safe limits of that engine are ... Otherwise it is all hear say by ear

If your talking about what ezgomike had posted then I believe his concerns were in the form of a safety issue. It's my understanding that there is no rev limiter on the kawasaki engine and valve float is what keeps the rpms down. You can get these carts to run really fast and with no safety equipment if something were to happen it's almost a certainty there would be injuries. On most carts even the brakes are questionable at best, I can't count the number of times i've seen people crash into things (with slow carts) cause they can't stop in time. ad a little speed and the risks increase exponentially.
To be safe, don't worry about a tach, ad a 4 point safety harness and a roll cage. you can always fix the engine if your not paralyzed from having a cart roll over top of you going 35

I think he was just looking for a little extra...not setting any land speed records here. I think the cage and 4 point harness might be a little extensive...although one can never be too safe! Might wanna look into a helmet and neck brace as well!

No, can't say that I have...have you? There is a good chance the cart in question will not reach 30 mph by simple adjustments. However if it will, please let me know as I have a FJ400 powertrain sitting on a pallet and I will surely be installing it in my next build!
