Default More eletrical Problems 1989 EZGO

So i been working on an 1989 ezgo and its been have problems. It caught on fire last year. I rewired the whole thing. I put a new starter solenoid and micro switch also. It was running great And a could weeks ago me and some friends took it on a long ride. And we stoped and it wouldn't go again. so I thought it had to be the new starter solenoid. i took it off and put the old one on, and when you put your foot on the gas and keeps on running even with you foot off the gas. like the old solenoid is stuck and the new one already went. I talked to a guy on hear several days ago. I bought the starter solenoid from a local auto parts store for like 10 bucks. And he said that, that solenoid wasn't meant to handle a golf cartand they oveheat. So i bought one off of ebay for the ezgo and i put it on today. and i gave it gas and the motor turn over and when i take mu foot off the pedal it stops now. But it wouldn't go. I took the spark plug out and grounded it to the metal and there is no spark now. could that coil be bad. It ran like brand new before me and some friend road it around town like 3 times and its been acting up ever sence.

Let me know
Thanks mike

could be a connection or wire issue. there's a 2 stroke trouble shooting chart in the tech section in the manual, diagram thread

The 89 I had used to do something similar where it would be running along just fine and then it was like I yanked the plug wire off. I thought it may have been having a problem with the ignitor but I traded it off a couple of weeks ago before I had a chance to check that out. There is a fuse in the circuit that if blown would cause the same symptoms so I would check the fuse with a multimeter or replace it. I did that once too!! That engine is aggravating. good luck!
