Vibrations
I have a 1985 EZ-Go 2-cycle golf cart that vibrate so much it's causing damage due to vibrating bolts off etc... the last problem was it broke the mount off of the engine that holds the muffler which caused the pipe to break. I have two questions... 1) Is there a place to buy a mounting bracket (can it be welded) 2) how can I reduce the vibrations?

Re: Vibrations
take a good look at the DRIVEN CLUTCH, on the rear end, while in nuetral! and see if it is wobblring back and forth, that will cause the whole cart to shake violently. and losen every bolt it can
if thats the case then you need to get another driven clutch, (new). theres no fixing that problem. the splines inside of the driven clutch have worn down so much it cannot find its center, sorry |

Re: Vibrations
I really doubt tires, shocks, and springs are shaking bolts out of the engine maybe engine mounts. somethings out of balance for it to do that, clutch, fan blades broke, wore out,
I don't think you can get those brackets from ezgo anymore. should be able to weld it. |

Re: Vibrations
Thanks! I found someone that can weld the bracket back in place. I'm having difficulty finding the pipe that runs from the muffler to the engine block. Anyone know of a website that may carry this item? As far as the suggestions for the vibrations... Thanks for the help! I'll start running through these until I fix the problem.

Re: Vibrations
I would look closely around the base of theengine and see if the motor mounting plate is cracked. I had the same trouble and only after I borke the exhaust stack on a new muffler, did I look and notice a cracked plate. I had a buddy lay in round stock and weld the mush out of it and presto,, no more noise. I also found the supports for the muffler were broken and cracked so we fixed that too.

Re: Vibrations
I'm a novice with mechanical things but I am learning as I go. I am checking what I think are the motor mounts. I think I have three. One in the front (connecting to the frame almost under the ignition key) and two almost over the rear wheels. They have a rubber pad between the frame and triangle on which the motor sits. They have a bolt through the middle and 4 rivets on the corners. Am I looking at the correct things? If so, None are broke or cracked. The front one has a little play in it when I pull up on the bar it is connected to. Not much though. Should it have play? if not, can I tighten that bolt or do I need to replace the mount. The rubber does not appear to be dry rotted.

Re: Vibrations
look directly beneath the motor where it bolts to that engine cradle.....you may find it cracked. It will be hard to see. You may need to take a pry bar or piece of pipe and brace up against the engine while looking at that base. As you pry against it, if it is cracked you will see it. That is most likely why you broke your exhaust stack. Until you know if it is right, I would not reweld and reinstall the stack....it WILL break again and at near 100.00 for a new one, well you get the picture. good luck
